Automatic landline detection

Sending text messages is a great way to engage with your contacts. But sending text messages to a landline phone can cause issues:

  1. It's a waste of your time, since the recipient can't see your message or text back
  2. Phone carriers view undelivered texts as a sign of potential spam, so texting landlines can hurt your reputation and prevent your legitimate text messages from being delivered

New numbers are scanned automatically

Follow Up Boss will now scan any new numbers you add to a contact and automatically flag them as mobile or landline numbers, so you know who you can text and who you can't.

Existing numbers will not be scanned at this time.

Landlines will be hidden from texting screens

When a landline is found, we will hide that number from the anywhere in Follow Up Boss where you'd send a text message, like on the person screen, inbox, and in the quick text dialog.

What if a number is incorrectly flagged as a landline?

You can call the customer and have them send a text to your Follow Up Boss number. This will automatically switch their number to mobile. You can't manually override it.

Rollout schedule

Landline detection will be rolled out over several weeks in the desktop app only. You don't need to do anything to get it--it will be enabled in your account soon if it isn't already. Landline detection will be added to the mobile apps in future releases, but not immediately.
